It is also a strange botanical domain with thick, towering kamchanod trees sprung up from the empty landscape.

For 18 years, the notorious scandal involved a band of film projectionists and their spine-tingling encounter with the ghostly audience of Kamchanod.

The last section of the film is one of the most brutal torture scenes ever put on celluloid, and it is definitely not for the faint of heart. But even in its gore-filled shockingness, the film is beautiful to look at, a monumental achievement by a director willing to take chances and challenge his audience.

Three friends from the same high school are conducting a séance with a bunshinsaba - a traditional South Korean ouija board. As the spirits are called by Eun-jung (Lee Yun-ji), the planchette of the bunshinsaba starts jumping up and down: At the same time, her sister Eun-seo, who was sleeping in the next room, wakes up screaming. When Eun-seo comes out, she has an argument with Eun-jung about conducting the séance rather than studying. After she leaves, Eun-jung says she wishes the ghost had taken her sister away and then jumping to join her friends in bed jokingly tells them that if they don't send the ghost back it will kill them. They are all unaware of the planchette moving around the board in its own. Nor are they aware of Eun-seo being attacked by a ghostly water-based presence in the kitchen.

After a visit to her doctor, an amnesiac Min Ji-won (Kim Ha-neul) finds out that now her brain waves have stabilised, there's a good chance she may get her memory back. She's decided to leave college, leave her mother and go overseas, to make a new start for herself.

In time-honoured movie tradition, though, little snippets of her memory start to come back in her dreams - and they're almost always tainted by some frightening figure she can't place. Not only that, but they seem to be continually connected to water, whether in the dream itself or by the medium of a knocked-over glass of drinking water next to the bed. But soon enough, inexplicable things begin to happen to her in reality as well - echoes of her dreams, the ghosts of her forgotten past invading her waking life.

Just at this time, Ji-won gets a blast from the past: Yu-jung, an old friend from High School, comes to find her after she saw her in a dream - and not only that, one of the other girls, Eun-seo, has died after telling this girl she had seen something bizarre. It's not long before Yu-jung also has a terrifying supernatural experience with the ghost Eun-jung never sent back.

Now three of her closest friends from High School are dying under mysterious circumstances. But what is the identity of this ghost, how is it linked to her own forgotten past, and can Ji-won find out how to save herself?

He recalls that not only Mr. Wang, but also Madoka have received similar calls. Meanwhile Kyoko is talking to Madoka and she sees a ghost in her phone. Their investigation shows that Mimiko's grandfather Wei Zhang is in Taiwan and Takako asks her former husband Yuting to search him. Takako, Naoto and Kyoko travel to Taiwan expecting to solve the mystery and save Kyoko from her fate.

People mysteriously start receiving voicemail messages from their future selves, in the form of the sound of them reacting to their own violent deaths, along with the exact date and time of their future death, listed on the message log. The plot thickens as the surviving characters persue the answers to this mystery which could save their lives.

While in a bar with her friends, the teenager Yoko Okazaki receives a voice mail from the future telling the date and time when she would die. On the next day, Yumi overhears a group of students talking about the urban legend that people are mysteriously receiving phone calls with date and time of their death in the near future. In the precise informed hour, Yoko is attacked by a supernatural force in a train station while talking to her friend Yumi Nakamura. Yumi seeks out Kioto's boyfriend Kenji Kawai, who also received a call, and witnesses his death in an elevator shaft. When her roommate Natsumi Konishi receives a call, Yoko befriends Hiroshi Yamashita, who tells her that his sister Ritsuko was the first victim of the phone call. While in the hospital, Yumi hears an asthma pump and recalls that she heard the same noise when Kenji died. They decide to investigate victims of asthma in the hospital and find the name of Marie Mizunuma and her daughters Mimiko and Nanako. They search the family together trying to save Natsumi from her fate.

After celebrating at a drinking party with his closest friends in Bangkok, Tun (Ananda Everingham) and his girlfriend Jane (Natthaweeranuch Thongmee) get into a car accident. Jane hits a girl but Tun does not allow her to get out of the car. The couple drive away leaving the girl behind. Meanwhile, Tun discovers mysterious shadows on his photographs. Jane thinks that the girl who they hit on the road is haunting them while Tun dismisses the idea. Tun then begins to experience severe neck pains after the accident. Meanwhile, Tun's friends are also haunted by this mysterious girl and Jane begins to investigate about the girl. She finds out that the girl was Natre (Achita Sikamana), a shy and weird girl who studied with Tun in college. After confronting Tun, she realized that Natre and Tun were in a relationship. Tun kept their relationship a secret and when he broke up with her, Natre threatened to commit suicide. Tun and Jane then visits Natre's mother and they find decaying body of Natre in her bed room. They realized that Natre had committed suicide. Meanwhile Tun's friends are all being murdered by Natre and Tun feels that he will be the next.
Tun is also then haunted by Natre. He almost falls from a building but survives. Jane, meanwhile, tells Tun that Natre's funeral will be held the next day and everything will be back to normal. After holding the funeral, Tun and Jane return to Bangkok. Jane then discovers some photos and find Natre's shadowy figure in the pictures. She then finds that Natre is trying to reach something in the picture. She then finds some old photographs where Tun's friends are forcing themselves on Natre. Disgusted by the image, Jane leaves Tun.
Tun meanwhile takes pictures with his shutter and, in rage when he can't find Jane, he throws the shutter across the room. The impact of the shutter hitting the floor takes a photo of himself with Natre draped over his shoulders—which explained his neck pains and extra weight. He then jumps out of the building...
Jane then visits him in the hospital and finds Tun in a critical state. At the end of the movie, we see Natre is still clinging on his shoulder meaning she will never leave him.

Yun Jin-seong played by Sung Ji Hyo, remembering the old legend of the "Wishing Stairs" wishes for a place in the prestigious arts school, and in a shocking turn of events, she gets it, at the cost of her best friend, Kim So-hee's life. However, it's only when the extremely odd character of Eom Hye-ju wishes the dead girl back, that an unspeakable evil is released.
